Abstract

To address the social networks established by the components of a samba school in the process of preparing its carnival, a small school was chosen in Rio de Janeiro's Ilha do Governador: Acadêmicos do Dendê. Its relations with the other two neighborhood schools, as well as the forms of symbolic expression of belonging to the neighborhood, are taken here as object of analysis. Along the way, we observed the behavior of the mediators in social relations networks in sociability processes within the school. The conflicts that occurred during the election of another school from Ilha do Governador will be presented with their unfolding in the Dendê parade. We approach social situation interpreted as "social drama" in an attempt to illuminate the process of reflection.
