This text analyzes the narrative and plastic meanings in the work of painter Emiliano Di Cavalcanti (1897-1976), whose thematic diversity encompasses the recreational representations of everyday life and popular Brazilian parties. We have elected four works as models for analysis: Serenade (1925), Samba Group (1928), Carnaval (1965) and Party of Saint. John (1969).
