Abstract

This paper contextualizes and indicates the actors that form the basis of the recovery of carnival in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The idea of carnival fosters the pondering about dispute over the public space. Walter Benjamin is the author who allows us to move in this network of recognition and re-appropriation of the city as both a common and a democratic space. By valuing happiness, the author offers hints and gaps that make possible, or at least desirable, to develop questions that involve the articulation of fragments of past and present – opening new horizons not exclusively or necessarily analytical.
