Abstract

The objective of this text is to present a snapshot of the results of the "Black Images" project, carried out in a municipal school in São Paulo with two eighth-grade classes of Middle School II. The proposal was aligned with the perspective of anti-racist education from the *Currículo da Cidade de São Paulo* in dialogue with geographical education. Additionally, it is based on the Pedagogy of Multiliteracies and the theoretical assumptions of Bakhtin's Circle. The didactic process aimed to problematize the negative images attributed to Black people and culture, as well as to strengthen a new perspective on African and Afro-descendant cultural production in schools, with a view to combating racism. The methodologies used in the project included digital languages and platforms, discussion circles, school research, inquiry-based teaching, field lessons, and textual production, among others, within a sequence of socio-discursive and interactionist activities.  The results indicate the need for a constant and unsettling revisitation of geographical school content, considering an ongoing questioning of the status quo with students, alongside the necessary progressive inclusion of racial literacy in school practices.
