CARTOGRAPHY OF VISIBILITIES AND (IN)VISIBILITIES OF THE MURDERS OF TRANS PEOPLE IN BRAZIL FROM 2017 TO 2022

Abstract

Aware of the social dimension of geographic space and its complexity in contemporary times, in this research we look at those subjects who transgress the sociosexual norms that take place in the space, such as trans people, a population whose embodied experiences are potentially affected by spatial cisheteronormativity, from constant interdiction and violence processes figured by the hate, cruelty and abjection. Considering these issues, this study aimed to analyze the spatial distribution of murder cases of trans people in Brazil, in the period of 2017 to 2022, that is, with elaboration of cartographies of the visibilities and invisibilities of these forms of violence using the techniques of anamorphosis and antianamorphosis. In this perspective, Cartography is used in this paper as a primordial language in the researching process, the theoretical-methodological in this study involved a qualitative-quantitative approach, in addition to a bibliographic review, the analysis of data of the Rede Trans Brasil as well as the cartographic method proposed by Slocum et al. (2013). In the results obtained, it was verified that  the spatial representations produced get an active function in the geographical research, playing a role of reporting and denouncing the violence committed against the trans population in Brazil, so mapping is giving existence to a phenomenon.
