Thinking about resistances and counter-rationalities is the central task of this article, which, based on Milton Santos' social theory of space, aims to contribute to the discussions on slow time and slowness proposed by the Brazilian geographer in question, with some elements related to the Amazon region as a backdrop. Methodologically, it is based on a bibliographical survey and review, a survey of secondary data and the systematization of daily experiences obtained through field visits in the Belém Metropolitan Region. This highlights the power of slowness and the “return of the territory” from the Amazon, notably from the forms of socio-economic survival based on human creativity and the role of the technical, undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered by public higher education institutions to the peoples of the forest, rivers and fields in the region.
