Abstract

The objective of this article is to analyze the formation of mineral-dependence in Conceição do Mato Dentro (MG), based on empirical evidence gathered through secondary data. The investigation demonstrated that, despite significant economic and social indicators, the implementation of the Minas-Rio Project, under the responsibility of Anglo American, has not succeeded in overcoming the obstacles to development and, on the contrary, is reinforcing a condition of mineral-dependence in the municipality.
