Abstract

The study focuses on livestock breeding in the Seridó region of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. This area boasts the largest livestock herd and milk production in the state, showcasing the unique territorial dynamics shaped by this sector. The aim is to explore the significance of livestock breeding in Seridó and examine the associated territorial dynamics. By reviewing literature and analyzing secondary data spanning 1974 to 2022 across 25 municipalities, the research highlights how livestock breeding serves as a key economic driver in the region, with a specific emphasis on milk production. This specialization contributes to the economic vitality of the area and supports the sustainability of small-scale family farming.
