About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The Journal of Environmental Scientific Photography is an open-access online periodic focused on original studies concerning the use of photographic techniques as a scientific method, the use of images as an object of study or, yet, studies whose image is a considerably relevant source for the results obtained in all areas of Biology and Environmental Sciences, such as Zoology, Botany, Mycology, Ecology, Animal Behavior, Systematic, Education and others. The submitted manuscripts will be revised by an editorial board composed of researchers and photographers with national and international experience.

Peer Review Process

Manuscripts submitted in English, Spanish or Portuguese will be evaluated based on the scope adequacy and format in accordance with the journal standards. Manuscripts that do not follow the norms and/or present texts with grammar and/or language structure deficiencies will be returned to the authors. Furthermore, the manuscripts that meet the journal standards will be sent to two reviewers for a study evaluation regarding scientific quality, technical quality of the images and study relevance for the journal. In this stage, with a maximum expected duration of two months, the manuscripts could be 1) rejected, 2) rejected with a re-submission recommendation, 3) accepted with modifications or 4) accepted without modifications. When a manuscript is accepted, the authors will receive authorization terms for image and text use and, later, a proof file confectioned by the graphic editor of the journal.
