Abstract

A objetificação refere-se à experiência de ser tratada apenas como um corpo-instrumento. O presente artigo objetivou validar a Escala de Objetificação de Mulheres (EOM). O primeiro estudo consistiu na adaptação dos itens e validade de conteúdo, mediante um processo de tradução, concordância entre especialistas sobre adequação, clareza e relevância. O segundo estudo contou com uma amostra de 253 homens heterossexuais de 18 a 67 anos de idade (M = 36,06; DP = 11,62) que responderam a EOM e escalas de sexismo ambivalente e racismo. Os resultados demonstraram evidências de validade da estrutura interna: CFI = 0,98, TLI = 0,98, SRMR = 0,06 e RMSEA = 0,03, e consistência interna (α = 0,78). Os escores de objetificação correlacionaram-se moderadamente com o sexismo ambivalente e racismo, demonstrando validação convergente-discriminante. Tais resultados indicam a validade da medida no contexto brasileiro, possibilitando seu uso em estudos futuros.
