Abstract

Abstract: The article addresses drug addiction from a psychoanalytic perspective. The authors propose a dialectic between classical and contemporary clinics as a way of analyzing the phenomenon that has been growing exponentially, considering the relationship of enjoyment that the subject maintains with the drug and the attempt to break with phallic enjoyment, what moves the relationship between the drug addict and the Other (drug). Providing artistic support to elucidate the concepts presented here, the “DOM” series, directed by Breno Silveira, is used, which shows the daily life of a drug addict in his various experiences. It is, therefore, an example that a drug addict is one who avoids facing his conflicts, remaining “silent” and seeking refuge in drugs against the anguish of lack.
