Interstellar battles and domination

Said (2011) states that the pattern of dominions and possessions which characterized empires from a recent past such as the British and the French laid the groundwork for what is in effect now a fully global world. In order to increase and keep their territories while inexorably ruling people seen as destined to domination, technology development was essential: weapons, war ships, steamboats, fuel, and power plants. Hence, Csicsery-Ronay, Jr. (2017) affirms that imperialism is strictly related to technology development and thus also to works of science fiction – their technological devices are important characteristics. Here we present and go further on this subject, and also relate it to Frank Herbert's Dune (2017) [1965]. We also present how imperial power dynamics occur in this novel, such as cultural dissemination based on religion.
