In the context of a world marked by strategic competition, contemporary international cooperation reflects a scenario of hegemonic transition. The decline of Western hegemony and the rise of the Global South, although not unified, amplify the challenges of promoting consensus. The book International Cooperation in Times of Strategic Competition addresses these dynamics with a critical and interdisciplinary perspective, highlighting the relevance of South-South cooperation as an alternative to the North-South model. The chapters explore topics such as the instrumentalization of democracy by the United States and China, the relationships between migration and racial capitalism, and the transition from BRICS to BRICS Plus. Additionally, it examines the impact of Chinese state-owned enterprises and the financialization of development aid. While the book provides a rich analysis, it lacks deeper exploration of solutions and integration between theory and case studies, yet it remains indispensable for the field of International Relations.
