Em tempos de novos nacionalismos e autoritarismos, surge esta obra coletiva, abrangente e interdisciplinar que nos apresenta o federalismo enquanto sistema político capaz de corresponder aos desafios da contemporaneidade. A proposta federal, que é pouco compreendida nos dias de hoje, poderá responder aos novos desafios, tanto a nível interno, na estruturação dos Estados, como a nível externo, europeu e internacional, na configuração de novas comunidades políticas.

ABSTRACT
In times of new nationalisms and authoritarianisms, this comprehensive and interdisciplinary collective work presents federalism as a political system capable of corresponding to the challenges of contemporaneity. The federal proposal, which is poorly understood today, will be able to respond to new challenges at both an internal level, in the structuring of States, and an external, European and international one, in the configuration of new political communities.
