Andreas Malm’s essay offers a radical and historical interpretation of the link between fossil imperialism and the systematic destruction of Palestine. Starting with the British bombing of Akka in 1840, the author outlines a continuous thread connecting military coal use, European colonialism, and contemporary energy politics—culminating in genocide in Gaza. This review proposes an interdisciplinary reading of the book, in dialogue with cultural expressions such as The Weeknd’s humanitarian engagement, to explore Palestine’s centrality in global struggles for climate, land, and justice.
