This paper presents the formation of a postcolonial imaginary about the African continent through film productions. The main objective of this research is to show how productions aimed at children contribute to the formation and affirmation of this imaginary based on colonial knowledge. These productions resort to the use of well-marked stereotypes for this purpose. In this context, we will show the connection between the formation of these stereotypes and their political objectives, as well as the production of knowledge amidst power relations that hierarchize regions and individuals, in addition to structuring dichotomies that sustain the postcolonial world. The theoretical foundation is based on postcolonial contributions, important for the analysis of the construction of an imaginary and an identity of the African continent. Furthermore, the methodology used was Foucauldian discourse analysis.
