“The poorer nations: a possible history of the Global South”, obra de autoria de Vijay Prashad, trata de assuntos fundamentais para o estudo da Cooperação Sul-Sul: as articulações políticas e o contexto pelo qual foi possível a erupção do Sul Global a partir de seus atores políticos principais no cenário internacional. Se em seu livro anterior “The darker nations: a people´s history of the Third World”, Prashad, nascido na Índia e atualmente professor de Estudos Internacionais do Trinity College, de Connecticut, Estados Unidos, centrou sua análise na formação política do Terceiro Mundo a partir da união de novos Estados em processo de descolonização e do papel de líderes nacionais em eventos como a Conferência de Bandung (1955) e o Movimento dos Países Não Alinhados, em “The poorer nations” se delimita a estudar como os países do Sul vêm construindo uma agenda coletiva em instituições internacionais de paz, justiça e desenvolvimento.
ABSTRACT
“The poorer nations: a possible history of the Global South”, written by Vijay Prashad, deals with fundamental issues for South-South Cooperation studies: political articulation and the context in which it was possible the global south outbreak based on its main political actor in the international arena. In his previous book “The darker nations: a people´s history of the Third World”, Prashad)concentrates his analysis on the political organisation of the Third World,that began with the decolonisation and formation of new states and the role of national leadersin events like the Bandung Conference (1955) and the Non-Aligned Movement. In “The poorer nations” he focuses his studies on the manner the Southern countries have built a collective agenda in international peace, justice and development institutions. Prashad was born in India and currently works as Professor of International Studies at theTrinity College, Connecticut/United States
