ABSTRACT
Twenty years ago, the Argentinian Carlos Escudé added in the academic discussion of the theories of International Relations the peripheral realism, where the understanding of power relations between states achieved a new vision. In 2012, the author returned to these lines, refining his theory and giving it a new historical-economic framework, following the rise of emerging powers such as Brazil and China, the latter occupying a special place in his thoughts. "Principles of peripheral realism: An Argentinian theory and its validity to the rise of China", presents so far a summary of the ways that the contribution of Escudé traced in these two decades, where the function and understanding of the peripheral countries should not be forget at the time of analyzing and understand the international events.
