Para tratar da missão e características das marinhas brasileira e espanhola dentro de um quadro amplo de referência, é importante abordar, primeiramente, a situação do Brasil como um país da América Latina, reconhecidamente cooperativo e pacífico no âmbito do sistema internacional, como o é também a Espanha em sua relação com a União Europeia (UE) em geral e, de igual modo, com os países ibéricos. O artigo examina as bases da cooperação estratégica entre Brasil e Espanha a partir das respectivas culturas de defesa da Marinha do Brasil e da Armada Espanhola.
ABSTRACT
To discuss the mission and characteristics of the Brazilian and Spanish navies within a broad frame of reference, it is important first to address the situation of Brazil as a Latin American country known for its cooperative and peaceful approach in the context of the international system, which is also the case of Spain in the context of the European Union in general and likewise with Iberian countries. The article examines the basis for the strategic cooperation between Brazil and Spain based on the respective defence cultures of the Brazilian and Spanish navies.
