Journal History

Mural Internacional was created in 2010 by the faculty of the Graduate Program in International Relations at the Universidade do Rio de Janeiro. Its main purpose is to disseminate and foster the debate on research in the field of International Relations, from a comprehensive perspective of the different sub-areas of the field of studies. In order to include works from different sources, the journal accepts articles in Portuguese, Spanish and English. Our publication is online and free, through the Open Journal System, which guarantees its complete accessibility. The target audience that Mural Internacional is aimed at is the researchers, professors, and students of International Relations, as well as of some of the related disciplines (Political Science, Sociology and Economics). Until 2018 the journal was published every six months, which led to two volumes being edited per year. Its structure was divided between a part of special contribution directed to articles by foreign policy and international relations operators, and to researchers of international projection; followed by a main body formed by original articles written based on reflections and research; evaluated by the double-blind peer review system; and, lastly, a section of reviews of recent books that had an impact on the study of International Relations. Currently, the journal is published in the continuous flow mode, which guarantees the publication of articles as soon as they are approved by the double-blind peer review system, without the need to wait for the closing of the issues and volumes for publication, thus contributing, with the main purpose of the Journal: the circulation and generation of original knowledge in International Relations. In this way, the journal has started to be published annually, with a continuous flow of publications until the end of the year, when the volume is closed. Mural Internacional is already included in the databases of important indexes, and its Editorial Board is composed of professors and researchers from different institutions and countries.
