Abstract

Em 2012, por ter sido alvo de demandas históricas por responsabilização, verdade, memória e reparação, o Brasil instaurou a Comissão Nacional da Verdade. O direito à verdade, pois, figura entre essas demandas, não se configurando, todavia, oficialmente como um direito, tornando seu significado e exercício tão disputado quanto elusivo. Logo, esse trabalho se concentra em mapear como foi entendido o direito à verdade projetando o desenvolvimento desse direito em dois sistemas de direitos humanos: Sistema ONU e Interamericano de Direitos Humanos (SIDH). Objetiva, com isso, captar até que ponto a trajetória brasileira condiz com as referências contidas nessas instituições.

ABSTRACT

In 2012, because it was the target of historical demands for accountability, truth, memory and reparation, Brazil established the National Truth Commission. The right to truth, therefore, figured among these demands, not being, however, officially defined as a right, making its meaning and exercise both disputed and elusive. Therefore, this work focuses on the understanding of the right to the truth by projecting the development of this right in two human rights systems: the UN and Inter-American Human Rights System (IACHR). It aims to capture the extent to which the Brazilian trajectory matches the references contained in these institutions.
