ABSTRACT
This paper presents a review of the essay Necropolitics by Achille Mbembe, a Cameroonian philosopher, recently republished in 2018. The author demonstrates how the question of sovereignty must not only take into account, in contemporary times, a question of individual autonomy and the search for freedom, but also the character of death in it. In this sense, Mbembe understands sovereignty as the ultimate expression of power and decision-making capacity over which lives deserve to be lived and which bodies are killable.
