Abstract

The present article is an analysis of the publication of Machado de Assis’s novel Quincas Borba in the A Estação magazine, between the years 1886 and 1891, in feuilleton format. The theoretical view of this article is influenced by Science of Empiric Literature. In this way, we pretend to approach the relation between the text, the magazine and the society like a body of actions of production, distribution, reception and critical reading.

Luiz Antonio Silva, FAPERJ

Graduado em História pela UERJ, é Mestre (2002) e Doutor (2007) em Estudos de Literatura pela PUC-RJ. Atualmente, é bolsista de Pós-Doutorado pela FAPERJ. Publicou, entre outros artigos, “Intersubjetividade, realidade cotidiana e leituras: reflexões sobre transgressão de limites, cultura e alteridade”, nos Cadernos Camilliani (2005).
