Atitude linguística em relação ao falar de LGBTQIA+ na Paraíba

Abstract

Linguistic attitudes relate to the manifestations of the social attitudes of speakers regarding language and its use in society, specifically concerning LGBTQIA+ individuals. In line with these ideas, this paper analyzes linguistic attitudes of LGBTQIA+ individuals and non-LGBTQIA+ individuals regarding the speech of people with dissident sexual and gender identities. To do so, I draw on knowledge of linguistic attitude and identity applied to gender and sexuality. This study is predominantly qualitative and conducted through a questionnaire, which allowed the generation of data from twenty participants divided into two groups: ten LGBTQIA+ and ten non-LGBTQIA+. In this methodological journey, there is data where the majority of LGBTQIA+ speakers show attitudes more at the behavioral level than the affective level regarding the use of language by this social group in question. In general, there are friendly attitudes. Finally, the non-LGBTQIA+ group exhibits tolerant dispositions, but most of them refrain from more in-depth evaluations, limiting themselves to considering it as normal/natural without further consideration of speech aspects.
