This study is based on the premises of Complex Dynamic Systems Theory (CDST) and presents a process-oriented analysis (LOWIE; VERSPOOR, 2015; 2019) of the development of the English-L2 positive Voice Onset Time (VOT) pattern, considering the individual trajectories of five native speakers of Brazilian Portuguese during the period of 12 weeks, with weekly data collection points. Between weeks 4 and 9, a pedagogical intervention was conducted through six classes of explicit instruction on phonetic-phonological aspects of the English language. Change-point analyses (TAYLOR, 2000) indicated phase changes in language development with increasing VOT values, providing theoretical and empirical material that contributes to the view of language as a CDS.Downloads
