The "petrolão" political scandal and the intersection between social fields: discursive-textual analysis of gender chains in news

Abstract

Based on the theoretical-methodological framework of Critical Discourse Analysis, particularly regarding the dialectical-relational aspect, based on Fairclough (1985, 1989, 2000, 2001a, 2001b, 2003) and Chouliaraki and Fairclough (1999), an analysis is made. textual discourse of online news about the “Petrolão” political scandal published by the weekly magazines Veja and Carta Capital, between 2014 and 2016, focusing on gender chains (FAIRCLOUGH, 2001, 2003). The objective is to describe how the discursive instances of corporate and alternative media chain genres from different social spheres in the event meaning process. The investigation reveals the systematic relationship between the genders and practices of institutional domains and the constituent configuration of the scandal at the constituent intersection between the social fields of politics, the judiciary and the media.

Possui Bacharelado em Letras pela Universidade Estadual do Ceará (UECE), Mestrado em Linguística Aplicada e Doutorado em Linguística Aplicada pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Linguística Aplicada da Universidade Estadual do Ceará (UECE), com formação complementar pela Escola de Altos Estudos em Linguagem e Sociedade da Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP). Como membro-pesquisadora do Grupo de Estudos em Análise de Discurso Crítica (UECE), do Grupo de Estudos de Direcionamentos Ideológicos e Disputa de Poder nas Relações entre Mídia e STF (UFC) e do Grupo de Estudos de Discurso, Identidade e Prática Social (UFC), publica artigos em periódicos nacionais e internacionais e apresenta trabalhos com interesse particular pelos seguintes temas: discurso, mídias corporativa e alternativa, escândalo político, eleições, ideologia, hegemonia e antagonismo social. É docente do Curso de Especialização em Semiótica Aplicada e do Curso de Graduação em Letras da UECE, parecerista ad hoc de revistas científicas nacionais, assessora acadêmica e editora de material didático.
