Autofiction. Autobiography. Alterfiction. Genre. Testimony.Abstract
Approach to autofiction, interpreting it not as a new genre, but as a device or a reflexive category. A revision of some themes related to this neologism, invented by the French critic and writer Serge Doubrovsky in 1977, is proposed. Autofiction is distinguished from autobiography, and a third term – alterfiction – is also proposed. Finally, a self-testimony about autofiction as an inventive factor is given.
