Self projections on city writings in La Forme d’ une Ville by Julien Gracq
Keywords:
Self writing, city writing, reading memory, “trace”.Abstract
This paper discusses self projections on city writing and their relationship with reading personal memory and with narrator formation process in the autobiographical narrative La Forme d’une ville, by Julien Gracq. The discussion we propose here is based on some aspects of Freudian notion of “trace”, on Walter Benjamin’s reading of this same notion, and on Proust’s project of remembrance past. With these reflections, we intend to demonstrate the way a synthesis between past and present takes form in the consciousness, by language.
