Abstract

In this essay we focus on aspects related to the creativity/ productivity of the Portuguese lexical system in Mia Couto’s works. Such aspects result from strategies used by the writer at the time of the discursive textualization. We concentrate on Lusophone cultural aspects present in excerpts from “O beijo da palavrinha and “Estórias abensonhadas”, relatively to the incorporation of new words, which lead us to confirm that with the “old” and the learned, the “new” is built. The perspective that guides our thinking comes from the understanding that we are part of an intricate and multi-faceted Lusophone space.

Neusa Barbosa Bastos, PUC-SP/Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie

Pós-doutora pela Universidade do Porto/Portugal e doutora em Linguística Aplicada ao Ensino de Línguas pela PUC-SP. Atualmente, é professora titular da Pontificia Universidade Católica de São Paulo e da Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie, consultora “ad hoc” da CAPES e da FAPESP e membro do GT de Linguística Brasileira da ANPOLL - Associação Nacional de Pós-Graduação em Letras e Linguística. Publica e orienta extensamente nas áreas de Letras, Linguística e Educação, com ênfase em Historiografia Linguística.

Regina Helena Pires de Brito, PUC-SP/Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie

Pós-doutora pelo Instituto de Ciências Sociais da Universidade do Minho (Portugal) e doutora em Linguística pela Faculdade de Filosofia, Letras e Ciências Humanas da USP e da Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie, onde atua como professora do Programa de Pós-graduação em Letras. Membro do Conselho Diretivo do Instituto Nacional de Linguística de Timor Leste, coordena o Projeto Universidades em Timor-Leste. É pesquisadora do Projeto LUSOCOM: estudo das políticas de comunicação e discursos no espaço lusófono, junto ao NECS (Núcleo de Estudos de Comunicação e Sociedade) do Instituto de Ciências Sociais da Universidade do Minho e pesquisadora convidada do Grupo de Historiografia Linguística do IPPUC-SP.
