Keywords:
neologisms, prefixation, meaning, media.Abstract
In the present work we present morphological, semantic and textual features of neologisms prefixed with hiper-, analyzed in journalistic corpora from different periods: IstoÉ and Veja magazines, studied from January 1986 to December 1990 and data recorded in the Contemporary Brazilian Portuguese Neologism Database, TermNeo project, which presents neologisms collected from a journalistic corpus since January 1993. This prefix, which initially formed terms of specialized languages , began to be used in non-specialized contexts, forming mainly nominal derivation and no longer performing a ‘position’ function, but a ‘excess’ function.
