TEACHING GRAMMAR FOR THE USE OF NATIVE LANGUAGE
Keywords:
native language teaching, productive approach to grammar, noun clausesAbstract
Criticism of native language traditional teaching has pointed out, for a long time, its deficiency as to what should be its main goal: to lead students towards a better mastering of the language. Nevertheless, Brazilian teachers, in general, still have few didactic resources to reform their practice. This paper presents examples of pedagogic activities for a productive approach to noun clauses in the Portuguese language, based on three discursive functions of these structures: indirect speech, text cohesion and modalization. The activities favour the integration of grammar with reading and writing skills.
