Author Guidelines

Step-by-step tutorial for online submission [in Portuguese]

Matraga is a quarterly journal with thematic issues. Before submitting your manuscript, make sure it fits to the intended theme as described in the call. Articles, reviews or reports out of topic will not be accepted.

Authors are requested to remove any data that might indicate identity or authorship.  They should be deleted so as not to compromise the blind review process.  Instructions on how to remove authorship data from the submitted files may be found in the respective templates    [ download the Article Template and the Review Template ].

Referees and the Advisory Council may suggest modifications in the structure and content of submitted contributions.

Papers can be written in Portuguese, Spanish, English or French and must necessarily follow the manuscript preparation guidelines.

 1. Manuscript preparation

a) all manuscripts must be submitted by the author (or one of the authors) through the online submission system, available at https://www.pgletras.uerj.br/matraga  or www.e-publicacoes.uerj.br/index.php/matraga);

b) registration and login are required both for online submissions and for tracking the submission process. If you are not already registered, you can register by clicking on the 'Register' button on the login screen and follow the on-screen instructions. They will prompt you to create a login ID and a password to enter in the system.

c) Files can be forwarded in .doc, .docx or .rtf (Word for Windows);

d) All data associated with author(s) identity must be removed not to compromise the blind review process. To facilitate it, authors are requested to remove any file property that may be traced back to their identity at the time of submission;

e) All metadata fields in the system must be filled in. In the field ‘biography’, authors should insert biodata with 10 to 15 lines.  It is suggested that an abstract of your résumé be used. The URL field can be filled in with an URL or, in case you do not have an URL, with the Curriculum Lattes URL or equivalent;

f) Authors should also inform their ORCID, at the time of registration. To create an ORCID, please go to https://orcid.org/register.

g) Authors are requested to obtain written permission for the use of materials protected by copyright (photographs, images, tables, graphics, and the like). Written consents for publication of such material must be submitted to Matraga, at the time of submission, as supplementary material. The final approval of the manuscript depends on your compliance with these requirements.

h) Images are required to be high-resolution .tiff or .jpg files (1200 d.p.i. for line drawings and 300 d.p.i. for colour and half-tone artwork). Please note that publication of your manuscript will not proceed until figures suitable for reproduction are received.

h) Authors are requested to revise their texts for usage, grammar and formatting as well as to compliance with manuscripts preparation guidelines;

i) Submissions that do not comply with the guidelines will not be accepted.
