A realização do 8° Congresso Brasileiro de Telemedicina e Telessaúde - CBTms - no último mês de novembro de 2017 foi marcada por iniciativas importantes para o crescimento e desenvolvimento da telemedicina, telessaúde e educação a distância em saúde no Brasil. Liderados pela presidente, a Profa Dra Ana Emilia F. Oliveira, os membros da Associação Brasileira de Telemedicina e Telessaúde, promotora do evento, trabalharam ativa e incansavelmente ao longo dos anos de 2016 e 2017, de forma a congregar todos aqueles que tem atuado na área. Assim, conseguiu-se reunir integrantes da academia, do setor público (MS) e grandes, médias e pequenas empresas, com uma atenção especial dada às startups do setor. -

Junto com a revolução tecnológica, surgem os jogos digitais como recurso educacional - os serious games -, com aplicações nas mais diversas áreas do conhecimento. Esses games são desenvolvidos para aliar entretenimento à simulação de situações do cotidiano. Um dos seus principais objetivos é facilitar a aprendizagem permeada por testes de conhecimento, envolvendo a tomada de decisões e utilizando um ambiente em que o feedback é automático e rápido -

Telehealth for Universal Health Coverage that was the subject of the VIIth Brazilian Telemedicine and Telehealth Congress, the XXth International Conference on Telemedicine and Telehealth, and of Rio de Janeiro Telehealth Symposium – CBTms2015 [1]. Sponsored respectively by the Brazilian Council of Telemedicine and Telehealth, the International Society for Telemedicine and Telehealth and the Telehealth Center of Rio de Janeiro State University, the event took place in October of the year in which the city of Rio de Janeiro turned 450 years. -

Em meados da primeira década do século XXI, surge na incipiente Rede Universitária de Telemedicina no Brasil a oportunidade de repensar a telessaúde. Conceito recheado de técnicas e tecnologias, apimentado por um forte interesse industrial e financeiro, se diluía na literatura científica indexada em vários sinônimos tais como videoconferência, serviço de saúde com uso de tecnologia da informação e comunicação – TIC, aplicação de robótica, reorganização hospitalar através do processo de informatização e redes, entre outros significados conforme o enfoque do pesquisador. Porém, como definir esse vocábulo telessaúde de modo a acrescentar à tarefa dos complexos sistemas de saúde nacionais, que visam salvar vidas e cuidar das populações de seus territórios em plena transição epidemiológica?Com o aporte dos campos dos saberes da comunicação, da informação e da saúde coletiva, é possível vislumbrar uma visão de telessaúde muito próxima à inovação em saúde, à pesquisa translacional. Esta forma de pesquisar visa estreitar os laços da produção do conhecimento com seu uso efetivo na prática cotidiana nos serviços de saúde por meio de intervenções inovadoras para a população1. -
