SCHOOL BULLYING: AN ANALYSIS OF THE SPEECH TEACHER

Abstract

The research enquires the social meanings of bullying by teachers of the second term of elementary school, developed in a County public school, at Ilha do Governador, Rio de Janeiro State, chosen due to its violence level location. The following data assemble techniques were applied: (a) school day-to-day life observation; (b) spotted group with 12 teachers from 6th to 9th grade; c) Interviews conversation with teachers. To start the spotted group, three series of images with bullying situations. The conversations were audio recorded, transcribed and assessed. The inquiry guidelines were taken from this analysis, and then the images were shown again in order to confirm their conversation angles, originally recorded with the spotted group. The data crossing showed that teachers have kept their points, allowing to pinpoint the possible metaphor of the emblematic core on bullying social meaning: when related to adolescence, bullying is similar to a disease. However, there is nothing that teachers can do, because the Child and Adolescent Regulations and the Tutorship Board withhold any action towards putting an end to bullying scholar.
