Apuntamentos sobre paisaje, un acueducto y viajeros en Rio de Janeiro en la primera mitad del siglo XIX

In the end of the 18th century and in the first decades of the 19th a considerable amount of drawings and engravings was made of the only aqueduct of the city of Rio de Janeiro at that period, the called Aqueduct of Carioca, nowadays known as Arcos da Lapa. Usually the British travelers who visited the city made these representations. They perceived this construction as a symbol of civilization, with its architectonical forms related to the classics ruins so present in the modern times.
