This article seeks to provide a comprehensive tool to guide research on quality of life and social justice, based on the open macrotheory of desenvolvimento sócio-espacial (SOUZA, 2006). In outlining the scope of the work, the author highlights that the practical application of the proposed instruments is not included in the present study, referring interested parties to his thesis for this purpose. The main objective is to present the theoretical foundation that fills an operational gap in research on desenvolvimento sócio-espacial.
The theoretical framework includes the Sustainable Development Goals of the cities of the New Urban Agenda of UN-Habitat and the work of Jupira Mendonça (2006) as inspirations for constructing parameters for evaluating quality of life. Young's work (2009) is highlighted for its contribution to identifying the nuances of social injustice through the analysis of forms of oppression.
The commitment to the open macrotheory of desenvolvimento sócio-espacial underlies the work, driving the search for identifying actions to overcome heteronomy. The article presents a tool to place individuals at the center of the analysis, recognizing that their spatial practices have consequences for gains in individual and collective autonomy. Inspired by Paulo Freire, the author emphasizes the continuous pursuit of freedom as an achievement that requires a responsible act by individuals.
