Corporate sustainability is a set of precepts, management and adjustment models, and mechanisms for measuring and certifying environmental management, established based on the economic interests of large companies. This set of actions is also adopted by the State and even by other actors in civil society. The goal of this article is to reflect on the incorporation of corporate sustainability in the peripheries of capitalism, based on environmental actions of large enterprises located in the far west of Metropolitan Area of the Rio de Janeiro. In the peripheries of the world, corporate actions suppress dialogue with the population in the immediate vicinity of companies and do not mitigate the impacts on the population that suffers from environmental problems.
