Abstract

The Ibero-American Geoforum of Education, Geography and Society emerged in 2008, within the Geocrítica platform, directed by Professor Horacio Capel from the Department of Human Geography of the University of Barcelona. Its objective is to promote critical reflection on geographic education, which is not analysed as an institutional subject, but as knowledge that allows us to explain some problems in our world. For more than fifteen years it has sought to promote dialogue and cooperation between people on both sides of the Atlantic. However, monologues predominate over debate forums, despite the fact that we have recorded that 10% of intertwined opinions have been exceeded. In any case, different syntheses of the interventions that took place in the open forums have been published. This collaborative way of working is essential in the way of understanding the meaning of critical citizenship, which has been formulated theoretically as the capacity that people have to be able to participate in community life, at its different geographical scales. The purpose of this presentation is to show a methodology to improve dialogic learning in forums and build a rational and participatory explanation of the problems.
