Among the urban problems, that of housing is central and it manifests itself in the most varied ways, either through the growing dispossession of the worker, who increasingly needs more years of work to have access to this good, or through the domestic solutions of building their own shelter in the outskirts of cities and even the increase of homeless people, especially in large centers. However, it is very common for researchers to relate the worsening of these issues to conjunctural problems. In this article, we intend to demonstrate that this is not a conjunctural problem, but a structural one that needs to be discussed. In this sense, the way used to show that the gap between the worker's salary and the price of housing and the other manifestations of the problem are insoluble through market alternatives, was to discuss the formation of the price of work and housing. For this, categorical references were used, taken from Marx, labor force and double monopoly of land in land destined for construction, as well as the contributions of Lefebvre, Harvey and Lautier and Torjada to address a structural matter of capitalism that has increasingly aggravated the urban problems.
