Abstract

Introduction: Geo UERJ was created, in printed format, in 1997, in order to provide better qualifications for the Geography course at UERJ. Between 2005 and 2006 the journal was interrupted, it was transformed into an electronic journal from 2007 onwards, thus enabling broader access to the academic community of the articles submitted for publication. Objectives: To make available chronologically the evolution, impacts and reach of the magazine with its readers, authors and other collaborators. Results: It is observed that over the years the journal has expanded its indexing in national and international databases, maintained a classification as B1 in Qualis/CAPES in the area of Geography, increased the number of collaborations with foreign authors/reviewers, there was a greater engagement with the scientific community being reflected in the number of thematic dossiers published from events and partnership with research groups, the number of published articles significantly evolved, operationalized its editorial flow through the Open Journal System (OJS) software, created by Public Knowledge Project (PKP), in accordance with editorial trends, began to disseminate their texts on social networks (Facebook and Twitter) as a result of this work there was an increase in the number of readers and access to published texts. Conclusion: Over these 25 years, we sought to qualify the journal, adapting to the international parameters of publications, in this way the journal was and remains a means of disseminating and recording scientific knowledge, geography and related areas.
