Abstract

Research on the evaluation of sustainability in the municipalities of the Amazon may constitute a relevant monitoring tool for the sustainable development of the Amazon. This study evaluates the human well-being and environmental well-being indexes of the municipality of Laranjal do Jari, based on the Sustainability Barometer tool. The intellectual strategy of the study occurred through the association method, since there was communication of variables of the Human Well-being index with those of the Environmental Well-being index, but we did not find a dependency relationship. Here we conclude that the municipality of Laranjal do Jari has a sustainability level "Intermediate" (score of 47.65) in the Human Well-being index, and "Almost Sustainable" (score of 66.63) in the Environmental Welfare index.
