Introduction: The Terras Altas da Mantiqueira circuit is a tourist circuit located in the south of Minas Gerais (Brazil) and is part of the Serra da Mantiqueira, a set of elevations located between the states of Minas Gerais, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. It was created, in 1998, as the first official Touristic Circuit in the state. The circuit structure is a public policy of territorial influence. Objective: The article aims to present, through a geographical view, the territory in a region of tourist potential, in this case, the Terras Altas da Mantiqueira. The proposal is part of a more comprehensive study, which presents the location based on the GTP methodology (Geosystem – Territory – Landscape) by Bertrand and Bertrand (2007), however, seeking a greater approximation with the proposals of Haesbaert (2004). Methods: Data were obtained through literature review, data collection by the Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE) and other bodies, and fieldwork was also carried out during the second half of 2019. Result: The result was the creation of an information base on the territorial context, both of the aspects of public policies, as well as of historical occupation. Conclusion: For managers, understanding this belonging can point to overlapping territories and points of association that transcend the limits of the circuit and provide partnerships that respect the population and allow tourists to experience another level of experience, entering a territorial dimension.Downloads
