Abstract

The purpose of this work is understand how the social and spacial formation of Uruguaiana municipality occcurred through cattle raising. The activity, wich was inserted in its territory with the arrival of Jesuits, crossed several moments and became the main economic activity of the municipality. For the understanding about this process will be used as theoretical reference the category of Social-spatial training. This category is aimed at specifying how a given mode of production takes place in the various social formations, collaborating in the understanding of curent extensive cattle ranching and landowning in Uruguaiana.
