The Goiania Metropolitan Region (RMG) is an urban-metropolitan agglomeration of Brazil, located in the center of the country, in the State of Goias. The region forms a complex territorial structure, established by law, which despite having a embracing legal framework for governance, partially works; in practice, only the urban public transportation has a metropolitan management. The Brazilian experience shows a general framework for fragilities and lack of metropolitan governance. Thus, the paper aims to analyze the territorial governance structure in Goiania Metropolitan Region, observed from the model established by the metropolitan network of public transportation, regional systemic unit, which promotes the integration and cooperation of metropolitan municipalities.
