Ilha do Governador: Considerações acerca de seu Processo de Ocupação

Abstract

This article is a synthesis of theconsiderations acquired in a research of threeyears and a half; which intended to show thechanges that occured in the environmentduring the process of human occupation andurban increase of Ilha do Governador.The rjered study adopted as a methodolog,ya historical analysis of this place's process ofsettlement, always comparing it withmodifications suffered by its surroundingsThe transformations of Ilha doGovernador's nature are reflexes of those thathappened and are still happenning in aliBaía de Guanabara's basin region. Thesealterations directly influence it's inhabitant'slife quality.Therefore, this study showed a historicalbalance of modifications in this island'senvironment, connecting these interventionswith the real causes that promoted them,which were the economic questions thatdeterminates each moment of the occupationof this place.
