Transformações na Rede Urbana o Exemplo da Amazônia

Abstract

In Brazil one of the laboratories of researchon the urban network is constituted by theAmazon, which as from the sixties has enduredradical changes on the different types ofnetwork that cover the region. Those changeswere linked to the border capitalist appropriation,reinforced by the successively officialmeasures.Indeed, an existing urban network which hada dendritic standard endured changes on variousdirections: either on the form, the functions,the cities role and the space interactions,which became more complex on the functionalsize of the cities, creating complex nerworkson which each center started to performvarious roles.On this context, this study aims to identifythe features and changes occurred on the Amazonurban network, comparing two different times:the sixties and the year of 1991.
