Abstract

The Cirio de Nazaré in Belém-Pará has been realized since 1793 and, along the years, has become a complex of sacred and profane events, attracting thousands of tourists to the city in October. Aiming to analyze the touristification spaces in sanctuaries and events catholic from the action of agents involved in this process, this article focuses this festivity, performing for this, literature and field research and semi-structered interview. The results demonstrated the diversity of the intentions of agents, who by their convergences and divergences promote partnerships and territoriality conflicts. The analysis of this process enable our understanding of the importance of each agent and the need to seek the understanding between them in order to democratize the benefits caused by tourist activity, more specifically, in its religious sector.
