This article analyzes the issue of social housing in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba today, portraying what steps the government has taken to face the lack/precarious dwellings in layers of low-income population. Initially presents some considerations about the population growth of the MRC in recent decades, resulting in a series of social and environmental problems and presents the current characteristics of Paraná Housing Policy, which is based on the National Housing Policy that proposes fairer and efficient. From this presents the scenery resulting from the partnership of the federal government with the state and the district of the MRC, through two main programs focused at the poorest people, the Settlements Urbanization Program Slums and the Program Minha Casa Minha Vida (type 1). Thus, says in a preliminary way that these programs have caused changes within the RMC, as new population dynamics, although these changes are not enough to resolve the issue of lack of housing for the poorest people, and that the "benefits” brought are highly questionable.
