Abstract

This article briefly reviews the latest book by Vidal de La Blache, La France de l'Est, and aims to demonstrate that the political aspects were part of his proposal, but were omitted by his followers. It also examines some aspects placed by him in defense of the French State, his position regarding the return of territories, mostly of German language and culture, based more on historical arguments than geographic ones.

Graduado em Filosofia e Geografia, Mestre em Educação pela PUC-Campinas e Doutor em Geografia pela UNESP - Rio Claro. Professor de Epistemologia da Geografia, Pensamento Geográfico Brasileiro e Geografia Política. Atualmente realiza um pós-doutorado na Faculdade de Educação da UNICAMP.
