Resumen

Abstract: The life experiences of black women in contemporary times, marked by racism, in addition to other mechanisms of exclusion, such as gender and class, contribute to problematizing the power relations that permeate the construction of historical narratives in each part of Brazil. Taking intersectional analyzes as a basis, this text aims to contribute to the understanding and deepening of historical studies on the social insertion of black women in Recôncavo Baiano, the peculiar working conditions of the tobacco areas, as well as their protagonism and activism in the face of oppressive structures, mainly in relation to refers to sexism and racism. We will address the daily lives of black women, negotiations and survival outside the private world of kitchens, tanks and backyards. We will understand how the colonial structure built from the tobacco economy defined the experiences of black women.
